‘Glory’ Wins Best Original Song At The 2015 Oscars

“Glory” from “Selma” won Best Original Song at the 2015 Oscars on Sunday night, beating out “Everything is Awesome” from “The Lego Movie,” “Grateful” from “Beyond The Lights,” “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” from “Glen Campbell… I’ll Be Me” and “Lost Stars” from “Begin Again.” John Legend and Common accepted the award after performing a moving rendition of the song to a tearful audience. “‘Selma’ is now because the struggle for justice is right now,” Legend said.

“Glory” was the frontrunner, after Legend and Common took home the Golden Globe for Best Original Song. “Knowing what we’re singing about is inspiring people as they march today in this present time, and knowing millions of people will watch the Oscars is such a huge honor,” Legend told HuffPost Entertainment in a recent interview. “It could not be a better combination of circumstances for us.”
