Democrat Sheldon Silver, speaker of the New York State Assembly, was arrested Thursday by the FBI on charges of corruption.
Sheldon turned himself in to FBI agents Thursday morning as a result of a federal investigation into payments the lawmaker received from a small law firm in New York. Sheldon failed to mention the payments, which centered on real estate tax reductions, on his annual financial disclosure filings with the state of New York.
