J.K. Simmons will host the Jan. 31 episode of “Saturday Night Live.”
The actor, who’s been a mainstay of the industry for years with roles in projects like “Law and Order” and “Juno,” gained buzz this year for his turn as a manipulative music teacher in Damien Chazelle’s breakout indie film, “Whiplash.” The role earned him a Golden Globe win for Best Supporting Actor and an Oscar nomination in the same category.
