Autopsy Cites Cancer as Cause in Death of Times Reporter

David Carr, the New York Times media columnist who died unexpectedly Thursday night, had lung cancer, and died of complications from the disease, according to the results of an autopsy released Saturday evening.

A memorial in the Times newsroom at 3 p.m. Friday drew a crowd rivaling that for the annual announcement of the Pulitzer Prize winners. A wake for Mr. Carr is planned for Monday evening; his funeral will be held Tuesday morning.

The New York Times
