Groups Place Free Hats And Scarves Around Cities, Spread Warmth To Those Who Need It Most

These good Samaritans are working to make sure that the homeless and others in need are prepared for the winter weather.

Hats and scarves have been spotted around several areas that are experiencing frigid temperatures this winter. The apparel — which has shown up in cities including Edmonton and Winnepeg in Canada, and Wilmington, North Carolina — comes with messages urging those in need to take the winter wear.

“Choosing between heat for their home, food for their children — sometimes their children are cold and their children could use a scarf,” Donna Hauge, a member of Chase the Chill in Penobset County, Maine, told WABI TV5. “You can make something to warm somebody up and sometimes that’s all people need, is just a little warmth.”
