Rafa is back: Equals long-standing record with Buenos Aires title romp

Rafael Nadal lifted his first trophy since last year's French Open and for good measure equaled a long-standing ATP Tour record Sunday.

Argentina legend Guillermo Vilas led the way with 46 wins in clay court tournaments so it was fitting that today’s “King of Clay” drew level with him by winning the tournament in Buenos Aires.

He was also claiming his 65th title from 93 tour-level finals, breaking out of a tie with legends Pete Sampras and Bjorn Borg for fifth place in the all-time list.

Nadal is the seventh straight Spanish winner of the ATP 250 event and it is boost for his preparations for his challenge for a remarkable 10th French Open title.
