Tips For Going Green With A Baby, From Alexandra Zissu (VIDEO)

What is green living expert and author Alexandra Zissu’s number one tip when it comes to going green with a newborn? Buy less! The baby retail industry likes to make you believe that you absolutely need so many things for your newborn, but Alexandra says that it’s really much simpler than it seems. You’re already making the food your child needs, so if you’re able to breastfeed, this will eliminate the costs of formula and bottles. Don’t be shy about asking your friends for hand-me-down clothes — babies outgrow clothing so rapidly that it’s likely your newborn will only fit into them for a short period of time anyway. If you can’t afford cloth diapers, choose an eco-friendly diaper that isn’t harmful to your baby’s skin. Invest in an eco-friendly mattress, which is important for your baby’s health, and limit the amount of plastics that you expose him or her to.
