MEXICO CITY — A gas explosion heavily damaged a maternity and children’s hospital here on Thursday, leaving at least three people dead and dozens wounded, some by broken glass, the authorities said.

Mr. Mancera said the explosion occurred around 7 a.m. when a pipe from a gas delivery truck burst as gas was being delivered to the hospital.
