Chinese newspapers have also sought to assure their readers on that point.
“There’s no lack of people born in the Year of the Sheep-Goat who make a success of themselves,” a newspaper in Yangzhou, a city in the east, told residents last year, when hospitals there faced a surge of parents rushing to induce births before the new lunar year arrived.
“There’s no need to worry that Sheep-Goat Year babies will have a cursed life,” it said.
