Jean-Baptiste Grange Surges in Second Run to Win Slalom Title

BEAVER CREEK, Colo. — As expected, there was a repeat world champion in the men’s slalom on Sunday. The big surprise was that it was not Marcel Hirscher, the Austrian star and defending champion.

Fritz Dopfer of Germany took the silver medal, 35-100ths of a second behind Grange. Another German, Felix Neureuther, the World Cup leader in slalom this season, took the bronze, 55-100ths behind Grange.
