The meeting follows an acknowledgment by the White House that it should have sent a higher profile representative to an anti-terrorism march in Paris over the weekend, in order to better demonstrate its support for the French people following the terrorist attack last week on the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

Kerry will arrive in Paris after a short trip to Bulgaria, where he is expected to receive an update on the case against Fritz-Joly Joachin, a French citizen arrested in Bulgaria over a possible connection to the Charlie Hebdo attackers, Cherif and Said Kouachi.
