The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has reported the following:
- Early information suggests two of the four teenagers are women from Laval, while at least one of the men is from Montreal;
- Three of the four had been students at Montreal CEGEP Collège de Maisonneuve, according to an official there;
- The teenagers flew from Montreal to Turkey in mid-January;
- Two days later, family members alerted the police.
