Sam Smith Is ‘Fat, Effeminate’ And A One-Hit Wonder, Howard Stern Claims

Sam Smith is currently on a roll with a sold-out tour and a slew of Grammy Award nominations, but one person who isn’t convinced that the British singer-songwriter will have career longevity is Howard Stern.

At first, Stern — who is slated to join “America’s Got Talent” once again for the show’s 10th season — called the 22-year-old Smith “fat” and an “ugly motherf**ker” on air, USA Today reports. (WARNING: above video contains graphic language)

Meanwhile, reps for the singer confirmed that a copyright dispute with Tom Petty over the melodic similarities between Smith’s “Stay With Me” and Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” had been amicably settled.

“Although the likeness was a complete coincidence, all involved came to an immediate and amicable agreement in which Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne are now credited as co-writers of ‘Stay With Me’ along with Sam Smith, James Napier and William Phillips,” a spokesperson for Smith told Rolling Stone.
