White House works with Twitter on State of the Union selfie project

The first Twitter-produced selfie featured Anthony Mendez, who overcame homelessness to go to college, and Malik Bryant, a 13 year-old from Chicago. Both will be White House guests to the State of the Union address. Their picture was tweeted out by Michelle Obama’s @FLOTUS account with a Twitter watermark.

Twitter is not the only tech company the White House has paired with as part of its State of the Union outreach. Just last week, the President announced plans to wrap up his speech by sitting down with viral Youtube stars Bethany Mota, GloZell Green, and Hank Green. This combined with Twitter Mirror selfies indicates their effort to move beyond the beltway and appeal to a younger demographic.
