Suddenly, Layering Is the Rage

What felt like Arctic-strength winds were blowing on Sunday as New York Fashion Week attendees braved their shows — and the temperatures, with the wind chill, hovered perilously close to zero.

“It’s insane,” said Shayne Oliver, the designer of Hood by Air, who was wrapped in a giant fur-accented coat. “I just came back from Milan, and everyone was like, ‘It’s cold, girl.’ I’m like, ‘It’s not that serious, I’m a New Yorker.’ ” Said New Yorker’s response to the actual conditions once he encountered them is unprintable here.
